On Thursday, we will begin taking notes on the Ottoman Empire. This is a fascinating period of history that focuses on the growth of what used to be known primarily as Persia, and the empire they created, as well as the Crusades. Below you will note the flag of the Ottoman Empire.
Can you discover what the symbols on this flag mean?
Can You Name the Sultans of the Ottoman Empire? Try this game!
We will not be testing on this material until the end of next week. See you in the library!
You'll see me in the library indeed. :3

This is a flag from the Ottoman Empire. The crescent and star represent the Islam Shirk, or the sin of putting another god before Allah (idolatry). The next symbol is a picture of two Zulfikar swords. ~that took a lot of Googling~

I can't wait to work on the collages and I think the swords mean that they will fight to protect day and night.
ReplyDeleteJustin Kouch 4th period
The flag of the Ottoman Empire contains a crescent moon which means it is the symbol of the Ottomans, the star symbolizes the Turks and the swords are the swords of Ali Zulfikar.
ReplyDeleteSome Ottoman sultans were Khakan, Hunkar and Padishah.

I already have my barbarian words and pictures and I'm doing the Huns. Also, I'm guessing that the flag is like a symbol of patriotism to Persia, but I'm not really sure. I would like to know, though.

The star represented Sirius star. It had a powerful meaning but i forgot what and there was a Sky God and the moon symbolizes his eyes.

Big blue eyes, pointy nose, chasing mice, and digging holes.
Tiny paws, up the hill, suddenly you're standing still.
Your fur is red, so beautiful, like an angel in disguise.
But if you meet a friendly horse, will you communicate by mo-o-o-o-orse, mo-o-o-o-orse, mo-o-o-o-orse?
How will you speak to that h-o-o-orse, h-o-o-orse, h-o-o-orse?

The secret of the fox, ancient mystery.
Somewhere deep in the woods, I know you're hiding.
